Students must take 3 or 4 Swinburne units on Exchange and each core unit you intend to take must be matched to a similar unit offered by a Partner University. Therefore, you will need to find a Partner University that offers classes related to your study area.
The guide below lists a range of Partner Universities that have typically offered course material for the study area they are listed under. This will be a useful resource to guide your research and is a great place to start- however it should be used as a guide only. Swinburne and Partner University requirements, courses and rules can change often. Please speak with Swinburne Abroad for a full understanding of possible partner universities and make sure to do your own research into the Partner University's website as well.
To research the Partner Universities further, visit our Partner Universities webpage and find the partner that you are interested in. From there you can visit their website directly and start to look at the units they offer and see if any are similar to the units in your course, found on your Course Planner. Once you have found enough matches to sustain a full-time load of study (equivalent to 37.5 or 50 credit points) you can record your matches in the Study Plan document and submit an online application!
Note: Education students are not able to take any practical placements on Exchange. All units taken on Exchange must be theory/classroom-based units.
*Note: Students with electives on their degree are encouraged to take them on Semester Exchange. Electives are free units and do not need to be matched to specific Swinburne units. This means that, in most cases, you can use them to study at most of our Partner Universities. (Some degrees do have limitations on what you can use your electives for. So, chat to us as you start planning.)
